Under a broad commitment to integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors into each of our processes and actions, uisa has initiatives in place to preserve the ecosystem environment in which we operate, and is committed to safeguarding the environment and the quality of life, health and safety of our employees, while ensuring our operations are both efficient and transparent by reporting to our stakeholders around the world.

Environmental
uisa has several programs in place to protect fauna and flora, cut emissions and reduce water consumption. These initiatives have made us a local agent of transformation, and have engaged our workforce, communities and suppliers around preserving the environment, driving a broader environmental preservation movement.
We have been awarded several certifications for quality and environmental responsibility that demonstrate our commitment through these initiatives.

Social
Social responsibility is more than just about the welfare of our employees, their families and our communities. We believe providing safe and welcoming workplaces is key to maintaining a genuinely respectful work environment. uisa is proud to have a comprehensive and consistent Social Responsibility Policy that values people above all, as part of our legacy. The commitment we have for our people and the communities we serve is reflected in the projects we develop and the social services we provide to communities and governments. This is part of our commitment to future generations and helping to build a more just and equal society.

Innovation and technology are among uisa’s strategic pillars and are integral to our DNA. Some of uisa’s flagship innovation programs include: Pre-Budded Seedlings (PBS) and Simultaneous Intercropping and Rotation (MEIOSI), Sonifitec 4.G Vivo (Digital Farming), a next-generation data lake, company-wide implementation of SAP S4/Hana, and Fastpoint, an innovative, unique access control system, among other major projects.
uisa has also invested in and developed the following technology-enabled projects:
T4agro - an AgTech incubator. This is a new startup incubation model that provides a fertile setting for AgTech startups to develop innovative digital solutions for agriculture;
Sugarcane Biotechnology Center (CBC) - a uisa group company that develops new sugarcane varieties and conducts research to improve yields. It also develops laboratories and plants to produce biological agents for pest control;
Geo Energética - a company with a leading position in building biogas plants and in biogas sales.

ISO 14001
TodosWe were the first company in the sugar-energy sector in Mato Grosso to obtain ISO 14.001 certification. The certification attests that we are in compliance with the principles of its environmental policy and that the Environmental Management System (SGA) is effectively implemented.

ISO 9.001
Açúcar Etanol Energia ElétricaISO 9001 is the standard that certifies the company's Quality Management System. It has tools that guarantee the supply of its products within the same quality standards, establishing a relationship of trust with its customers and consumers.

FSSC 22000
AçúcarWe are certified by FSSC 22000, the most comprehensive food safety management certification program in the world. FSSC 22000 represents a new approach to managing food safety risks across the entire supply chain. It is a complete certification based on ISO 22000, the international safety system, combined with technical specifications (PAS 222, ISO/TS 22002-4 and ISO/TS 22002-1 and additional requirements for the GFSI - Global Food Safety Initiative, with recognition from this entity.By promoting more organized and objective communication between workers, suppliers, customers and consumers, certification also generates greater reliability between the links in the food production chain.

Kosher
AçúcarThe main international standard for sustainable practices in the sugarcane chain, Bonsucro certification (Better Sugarcane Initiative) has become the most used model in Brazil to prove the quality of production and origin of the product throughout its process. The certification guarantees compliance with legal, labor, environmental and efficiency criteria for the sustainable production of sugarcane and its derivatives.

RenovaBio
EtanolWe are certified in the RenovaBio program, which is part of the new National Biofuel Policy whose purpose is to encourage the presence of ethanol and other renewable biofuels, with a view to reducing CO2 emissions in the country's energy matrix. The certification allows the issuance and sale of Decarbonization Credits (CBios), a financial asset for biofuel producers, which are granted through the energy efficiency profile and individualized production volume.

Bonsucro
